FAQ
What Is the SCE Wildfire Recovery Compensation Program's Fast Pay for Contents?
Southern California Edison's Wildfire Recovery Compensation Program calculates Fast Pay contents compensation as 40% of a home's estimated rebuild cost, minus any contents insurance already paid, without requiring an itemized inventory. Tenants who lost a destroyed single-family home instead receive a flat $25,000 per person, and claimants represented by counsel receive an additional 20% added to either figure.
Fast Pay trades precision for speed. The formula ties contents compensation to rebuild cost rather than to what a household actually owned, so homes with significant fine art, jewelry, instruments, tools, or collections are the ones most likely to come out underpaid under that formula.
Fast Pay vs. Detailed Review
Owners who believe Fast Pay understates their loss can request the program's Detailed Review track instead. That path asks for an itemized inventory and the underlying source materials documenting each item (photos, receipts, records) rather than summaries or interpretations prepared by experts or legal counsel. The program's claims window closes November 30, 2026, which leaves a narrow runway to gather evidence before switching tracks.
Ember Wildfire Contents Appraisers builds evidence-linked household inventories from whatever documentation survived, with each item classified by how well it can be documented, so the inventory is organized the way the Detailed Review track asks for it. We don't represent that any program will accept a specific report; that determination belongs to the program administering the claim. If you're weighing Fast Pay against Detailed Review, request a contents appraisal and tell us your claim deadline.
For the program's own description of both tracks, see the SCE Wildfire Recovery Compensation Program FAQ and the claims protocol.
